What is a tip calculator?
A tip calculator works out how much tip to leave on a bill — you enter the bill amount and the percent you want to tip, and it shows the tip, the total, and the per-person share when the bill is split. In the US, 15–20% is the customary range for table service.
How to use the tip calculator

How much should you tip?
Customs vary by country. In the US, 15–20% at sit-down restaurants is normal, 10% for poor service and 20%+ for excellent service. In much of Europe a service charge is often included and rounding up is enough; in Japan tipping is not customary. This calculator does the arithmetic — the percent is always your choice.

What is 20% of a bill, quickly?
Move the decimal one place left and double it: 20% of 50 is 5 × 2 = 10. The calculator does it exactly, including cents.
Should the tip be calculated before or after tax?
Traditionally on the pre-tax amount, but many people tip on the total. The difference is small; this calculator uses the amount you enter.
Does it work in any currency?
Yes — it only does percentages, so it works with dollars, pounds, euros or any other currency.
