How do I calculate what I need on my final?
Use this formula: needed score = (target grade − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. Example: with a current grade of 88%, a final worth 20%, and a target of 90%, you need (90 − 88 × 0.8) ÷ 0.2 = 98% on the final. This calculator does the math and tells you honestly whether the target is reachable.

Reading the result honestly
If the needed score is over 100%, the target is mathematically out of reach this term — aim for the 'best possible grade' shown instead, or check whether your teacher drops the lowest score or grades on a curve. If it is 95–100%, the target is alive but needs a near-perfect exam. Knowing the real number early beats guessing: it tells you exactly how much this one exam matters.

What formula does it use?
Needed = (Target − Current × (1 − Weight)) ÷ Weight. It is the exact weighted-average equation solved for the final exam score.
What if I need more than 100%?
Then the target cannot be reached even with a perfect final. The calculator shows your best possible grade so you can set a realistic goal.
Where do I find my final exam weight?
On your course syllabus, usually in the grading breakdown. If it is given as points, divide the final's points by the total points and multiply by 100.
Does it work for letter-grade targets?
Convert the letter to its percent threshold first (an A is usually 90%, a B 80%) and enter that as your target.
Are my grades uploaded anywhere?
No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser.
